Home » Library Week 2026
The annual Library Week is an exciting elementary school event centered around a new theme each year. Hundreds of books are borrowed from local libraries and approved by the Sisters for IHM Students. Throughout the week, students participate in competitions and challenges designed to deepen their understanding of the chosen theme, earning points toward prizes and the highly anticipated ice cream party finale. Over the years, the old IHM Library has been totally transformed into creative settings—the Ocean, the Wild West, Europe, the Jungle, and even a spaceship! But this year was different in every way.

This year’s Library Week celebrated the early years of America in honor of the 250th anniversary—a fitting tribute for the first event held in the new, much larger library. The expanded space allowed for even more creativity, with decorations that included a replica of a Boston Tea Party boat and a Civil War camp tent. Students earned ‘stars and stripes’ for every book they read and reported on, adding a fun, patriotic twist to the festivities. Music class featured authentic early American music, and students created Americana-inspired art in Art Class. The 2026 Library Week was a resounding success, thanks to the enthusiastic volunteer moms who made it all possible.
