IHM School History
Est. 1976

Immaculate Heart of Mary School began in 1976 in response to the needs of families who identified a crisis in Catholic education. At IHM, a multidisciplinary academic education, prioritizing the Catholic Faith and its moral values and spiritual goals are taught with no apologies. It is doubly unique because it is nestled on the monastery grounds of Saint Benedict Center and is Catholic, literally, from the roots up.

The Town of Harvard School Board granted the school approbation on November 7, 1983, commending the institution on its comprehensive academic program. God has blessed the apostolate of IHM School, and enrollment has grown since the first humble beginnings with a few students in a small one-story ranch house building. Today, students enjoy beautiful buildings and look forward to the larger classrooms the Expansion Project will provide.

Growing IHM

1990’s Addition

In the early 90’s Brothers and volunteers enlarged the original building and added a much-needed addition for the growing enrollment.

MacIsaac Hall & Gym

The Brothers MICM finished construction on MacIsaac Hall in 2016. It is now the High School, and the gym has added space for sports and events.

Expansion Project

In the Works!

The acquisition of 77 abutting acres in 2017, allowed us to expand the Elementary building. We hope the new addition will open soon!

IHM School Mission

The mission of Immaculate Heart of Mary School is to teach the Catholic Faith in its fullness. Through this crucial form of evangelization, we strive to form Children of God who focus on attaining success eternally.

At IHM, traditional education based on the Catholic Faith is taught at all levels. Immaculate Heart of Mary School graduates have gone on to work in a variety of trades and professional settings. Many former students are married and raising families or have answered the call to the priesthood and religious life.

It is our prayer and expectation that these, and the future graduates of Immaculate Heart of Mary School, will serve as catalysts to bring others into the Catholic Faith.
